On Saturday Oct 8, 2022, KRT/ QRT joined Major Knox Adventures and Blood Sweat and Gears Bike Club in a collab century to honor the legendary Kittie Knox.
For those who may be unfamiliar, Kittie Knox was a cyclist in the 1890’s who competed as a scorcher and endurance cyclist. Knox was a pioneer for women’s cycling style and black cyclists looking to compete in sanctioned races after the governing body at the time, League of American Wheelman (present day League of American Bicyclists), which banned non-white cyclists from competing in amateur races. Knox became the first black person to join the League in 1893.
The ride started in Harlem, NY where the team watched the sunrise across the George Washington Bridge. They rode down the Hudson Greenway with views of the Hudson River and One World Trade. Afterward, they rode across the Brooklyn Bridge and through Prospect Park, truly experiencing the Fall season in New York City.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a truly memorable experience. We are proud of everyone who hit a milestone last weekend.
